Mission Impossible - Dead Recognizing (2025)

 

Okay you have got me started on reviews again. I just finished watching the new Mission Impossible - Dead Recognizing, with Tom Cruise of course.

It would be easy to point out that each new Mission Impossible movie adds a new benchmark for what you judge each new one by. But the reality is, they've all been pretty damn amazing slices of blockbuster entertainment in their own distinctive ways. Yes, everybody derides the second Woo-helmed entry, but it was still the highest grossing film of the year (something none of the other instalments have achieved), and, if nothing else, proved the unexpected versatility of this Cruise-led behemoth.

So as we come to The Final Reckoning, it's probably best not judging it as to whether or not it's the 'best' entry in this repeatedly, sometimes successively, impossible-to-beat saga, and instead just seeing it as a fitting finale to 30 years of ferocious filmmaking and at-times insane commitment to the world of grandstanding stunts and Big Screen entertainment, tirelessly championed by its star, Tom Cruise.

The Final Reckoning isn't merely paying tribute to all the movies that came before it, it somehow manages to draw valuable threads from all of them together, with one truly emotional reference that works on multiple levels - for not only the films' earlier characters but actually the original TV shows. 

But Cruise has still done the impossible, for the eighth time, making a (supposedly) final mission which is likely never ever going to be topped, which has practical stunts and physical commitment that no other person - let alone actor - on the planet would ever even consider, which no studio in this age of VFX (and, ironically, AI) would ever even think necessary, and which all comes together for the kind of blockbuster the likes of which we may never see again on the Big Screen. There's something truly grand about that, and, for all its flaws, this one deserves a respectful nod of resounding approval in all they've managed to pull off. The year won't get bigger - and certainly won't get grander - than Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.

  I really enjoyed part one, excellent film. I saw it at the cinema and watched it again when it was on Paramount or whomever had the streaming rights.

I've seem some trashy reviews where people are spitting all over Pt2 because it wasn't as good as part 1, which is a pretty high benchmark.

 So, based on your review, I think I will go to the cinema tomorrow.  Although, I'm now thinking maybe wait until i'm in the City and watch it at  a Luxe, which I will do for Jurassic Park.

 is superb. A much deeper character than her $hitts Creak one, as if that was difficult 

 A really good drama. Well worth watching both series. As long as you see it as a drama not a sitcom (IMDB reviews)

Have a read through at least a dozen IMDB comments first, generally it has positive reviews aside from people expecting a sit-com. Which would be a first for AMC. My thoughts on the "sitcom" bits were straight to King of Queens and Everybody loves Raymond, popular and jovial people but scratch the surface and really horrid psyches.

Just saw this today, 2nd series. Never even heard of it. Big stars, positive reviews. It's on Hulu so hoping it will be on Disney plus. I'll give episode S01e01 a watch before the football tonight.

most of the MI films are enjoyable, a great escape from everyday life, but these last ones are brilliant, dont know if they gonna make any more , but if not its a great way to finish the saga

General consensus is Tom Cruise won't do any more, in fairness to him, he is 60 something.

Top franchise so maybe a newbie will pick up as the new Mission Impossible guy.

So, I watched it at the cinema a couple of days ago, 3 hours long, bally long time to sit in the same chair.

  I enjoyed it, some top stunts, nice scenery and some nicely pieced together bits from the previous 7 films.

I'll watch again when its on home streaming.

 It was a really enjoyable film. Not the most in depth  characters or plot, just a good old fashioned adventure. Some bits of humour, different locations and a mythical quest.

  It reminds me a bit of Indiana Jones, Goonies, Romancing the Stone, Jewel of the Nile and the ilk.

 I recommend it if, you have 100 minutes for a film.

They have been showing Blackadder on Sky the last week or so. I think today was the last episode of series 3.

Excellent show. The last scene in series 4 is something else, not particularly funny but very will written and filmed. 

As for all other episodes, still very funny. I love Blackadder's Christmas Carol. 

I'll have to look into Downloading the entire collection.

I recently watched the first episode because it just came out in Italian, the spin-off of the great TWD series, namely The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, our group just uploaded the first episode to GLO, it's a beautiful series, obviously in Full HD.

Just Finished watching  The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant (2005).
 A young woman is transported to the New South Wales penal colony in 1788.
It was a good watch  if your into period dramas you will enjoy this !!!

I really enjoyed season 1, however I have not yet watched season 2. It's on my to-do list. They have confirmed season 3 ... Yay!!

Not yet watched The Residence, but I'll defiantly take a look at it. Thank you for your recommendations....
